Storm Dave brings disruptive and potentially damaging winds across Scotland, with the MET office issuing yellow and amber warnings through Saturday into Easter Sunday morning and across the weekend.  Peak gusts of 50-60 mph will be possible fairly widely, with 60-70 mph in more exposed areas. There is a slight chance of even stronger gusts of 80-90 mph in such exposed areas for a time. Please take care. and refer to our guidance on preparing for storms. We recommend woodland managers and owners read the Scottish Windblow Contingency Plan, while guidance is also available on managing storm damaged trees.

Accessing our data

To make the most of the Open Data Portal you'll need access to Geographic Information System (GIS) software. You can then:

  • visualise and analyse the data
  • combine it with your own data or data you've sourced from other organisations

  • Forestry Grant Scheme options and claims
  • Forestry Grant Scheme target and eligibility areas 
  • plans and felling 
  • a range of surveys and inventories 

The portal gives you the opportunity to explore data in more detail than is possible in the Scottish Forestry Map Viewer.

The Scottish Government provide a data hub where you can:

  • find, share and reuse spatial data provided by Scottish public sector organisations

There is a also wide range of additional data related to forestry in Scotland and across Great Britain from a number of organisation including Forest Research and Forestry and Land Scotland. This includes the National Forest Inventory and the National Forest Estate.
